The Bardstown Fire Department has been serving the community since 1805. The department employs 10 full time, 3 part time and 34 volunteer men and women dedicated to fire protection and prevention. The City of Bardstown Volunteer Fire Department provides fire fighting and rescue services within the city limits of Bardstown. They respond to over 500 incidents per year. The department maintains an eight man full-time crew and a three man part-time crew from 8:00-4:00 Monday through Friday. Highly trained and dedicated volunteer fire fighters are on call for all other hours of the day. When an incident is reported within a 220 square mile district outside of Bardstown, the Bardstown-Nelson Country Volunteer Fire Department Inc. meets the call.
