The meter reading staff reads approximately 13,700 meters for both Electric and Water services each month. Handheld devices are used to record consumption. The department also investigates abnormal readings (high and low), connect and disconnect Electric and Water services with the assistance of Electric or Public Works staff and keep all records of meter replacement and maintenance. The Meter Reading department has five full-time employees.

Please note that regular monthly readings of your meter are the best way of detecting problems that could result in high bills. If you are not home on the scheduled reading date, and your meter is located inside your home, locked gate, or near a dog, the meter reader will leave a card for you to call and reschedule a time to read the meter.
